Buying and drinking alcohol

The Legal Drinking age in Cameroon as per the Penal Code is 18 while the Legal Purchasing age is 21 years old.

If you are under 18, it is illegal:

  • for someone to sell you alcohol
  • to buy or try to buy alcohol
  • to drink alcohol in a public place
  • for an adult to buy alcohol on your behalf

In Cameroon,  If you are younger than 18 you are not allowed to drink or buy alcohol. Between 18 and 21 years old, you are allowed into pubs, as long as you are accompanied by an adult --someone who is 21 or older.

Drinking and driving

In Cameroon the legal alcohol limit for driver is 0.8 grams of alcohol for every 1 litre of blood in your body.
