Because alcohol slows your reaction time and impairs your coordination, drinking while playing a sport will affect your performance. In fact, drinking and playing sports that require quick reactions such as skiing, tennis, and football, can be dangerous. Drinking while doing water sports should also be avoided as the effects of alcohol can make you more vulnerable to accidents.
It’s important to note that if you’re going to play any sport, you’ll want to make sure you are hydrated before you start, while you're playing and after you finish. Since alcohol will dehydrate you, only toast your accomplishments after you've stopped playing and had plenty of water.
